10 Mundane But Incredibly Useful Items In Dungeons And Dragons

7. A Change Of Clothes

In a lot of Dungeons and Dragons games, players forget about what they are wearing. Once they have the suit of armour they need, it isn’t thought about again. You will find Fighters and Paladins sealed in plate armour like a tin can. They'd even bathe in the thing if you let them. But as the old saying goes: “Clothes maketh the man.”

Clothes can be given to the player from a number of background choices, whether these are meant for a trader or a noble. But of course, they can be purchased at most traders. There is a reason for this. You can’t attend the nobles' masquerade ball in dirty leather armour, unless you pass a good skill check to play it off. You also can’t blend in with a gang of thieves by wearing the shiny plate mail of a crusading paladin. It just isn’t going to work.

A new set of clothes can also make other quests easier. If you need to smuggle that royal out of the capital, what better way to do it than dressed as a simple trader. It might take some convincing to get them into them, but it will make your life a lot simpler. Maybe you just want to make a good first impression? Combining a set of nice clothes with the mirror you just brought means that you can meet any noble family. Just remember to bow.
