4. Who Is El Diablo? - Army Of Two: Devil's Cartel

One of the primary villains in Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is El Diablo, a top lieutenant in the drug cartel La Guadaña who, in addition to being a huge sadist, wears a mask to conceal his identity.

But the eventual revelation of who El Diablo is went down like a lead balloon with many fans, given that he was ultimately outed as Elliot Salem, one of the protagonists of the first two games who was apparently killed at the start of this one.

Except, Salem survived the apparently fatal truck explosion in the game's prologue, and feeling betrayed at being left for dead, decided to join the cartel under the guise of El Diablo.

Many expressed intense dissatisfaction with this twist, because it felt so thoroughly out-of-character for Salem to betray his T.W.O. teammates like this. 

Whether you saw it coming or not, it was a woeful feat of character assassination, with most fans ultimately left wishing that El Diablo just never unmasked at all.
