10 New Game Plus Modes That Changed EVERYTHING
6. Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode - Borderlands 2
As a multiplayer game with tons of replay value, Borderlands is a franchise that is born to have a new game plus. And it decided to go above and beyond with this obligation in its second and third game, creating Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode for any hardy players wanting another round.
In order to get this mode, you have to have played through the game in True Vault Hunter Mode, which players recommend you do after completing the game a few times on regular difficulty anyways - making Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode a sort of new game plus-plus.
Having finished the main story on True Vault Hunter Mode, its Ultimate brethren becomes available to you. This setting makes your foes uber-difficult - more so for Borderlands 2 than Borderlands: The Prequel, as the former increases enemy health two times more than whatever they had in True Vault Hunter Mode, which is already four times larger than regular.
Borderlands 2 also contains an extra hard difficulty option in this mode, where - after completing Digistruck Peak while in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode - you gain the ability to get Overpowered Levels. These allow you to further boost the difficulty level of the enemies you fight, in exchange for them dropping even sweeter loot. It's a pretty fair exchange, as far as new game plus difficulty goes.
