10 No-Brainer Video Game Sequels That DIDN'T Get Made
9. The Simpsons: Hit & Run
The Simpsons haven't had the best of times in the gaming industry; after many lackluster attempts to translate the license into video game form, only two titles reached solid status. 2007's The Simpsons Game and The Simpsons: Hit and Run from 2003. The latter was certainly the most popular all around.
Setting players loose in an open-world Springfield, players took control of different Springfield characters as they drove around and completed various missions. The style of the series, including its writing, humour, and overall wacky nature were all perfectly captured in the game. The fact that it took all the right inspirations from contemporaries like Grand Theft Auto was the icing on the cake.
A sequel was in the works at developer Radical Entertainment and had even reached the prototype stage. The plan was to get more creative with the cars that could be driven, including connecting them together for some manic results. Unfortunately, things didn't get very far after that as Electronic Arts won the rights to make The Simpsons Game to coincide with the upcoming movie.
Radical was locked out of making any more Simpsons content from then on and to this day, fans still hold the original in the highest regard.
