10 Notorious Video Games That Ask You To Sacrifice Your Social Life

7. Farmville (Or Any Other Facebook Game)

Come on guys; let's be reasonable about this. Just put the torches and pitchforks down and let's talk. No-one's happy about having these games appear alongside some of the classic titles on this list either, but sadly they are worthy of their place. With the astronomical rise of social media sites and their ever-expanding features list in recent years, social network games like Farmville do have an important role to play in the future of gaming. They are also equally responsible for the sacrifice of the social life of gamers, even if it is seen to be a far less noble pursuit. We may not want to consider the people ploughing hour upon hour into such basic and mediocre games as true gamers, but the fact is they are the gamers of this modern world and they perhaps have even more power than ever. Since these games rely so heavily on online interaction through their given site, near enough every single Facebook user is having their life taken over by constant invites to play these godawful distractions. We may not like it, but games like Farmville are perhaps the most powerfully life-consuming on this list as they can virtually take over our lives even if we don't play them ourselves. We challenge you to remember the last notification you had through Facebook that wasn't related to helping someone else play one of these games.
