10 Notorious Video Games That Ask You To Sacrifice Your Social Life

6. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This entry could really be dedicated to any instalment of the Elder Scrolls series but since Skyrim is the most recent (Elder Scrolls Online aside) and the most detailed, it seems best to use it here, being that Skyrim is a huge game that continues to draw gamers in two and a half years after it was first released. Like most modern RPG titles, Skyrim had a compelling thirty to forty hour main campaign. For some modern titles this would be considered more than enough for the developers to release it but Bethesda offered so much more. With multiple varied side quests, countless random events and one of the biggest, most detailed game maps of all time Skyrim is definitely the game that thousands of us spent the most time with. Anybody who has played this game has undoubtedly experienced the classic turn of events that starts with a determination to complete a particular quest, only to wander into some new cave or creature and then end up four hours later with the player at the other side of the map and with that first quest still unfinished. Skyrim is the place where direct play-styles go to die and where even the most story-focused player can be forced off the beaten path and into the all-consuming wilderness.
