10 Obscure Games You Might Not Have Tried

2. Thomas Was Alone

thomas alone Charming doesn't even come close to describing this game. It's a puzzle platformer where you play two dimensional shapes that have to work together to solve puzzles. Reading it, it just sounds like a time-wasting Flash or mobile game, but what makes this game so great is the music, a lovely atmospheric synth soundtrack that only adds to the innocent vibe this game gives off, and the narration, which, except maybe for Bastion, provides the best example of narration in video game history. At the beginning of each level, the narrator delivers a paragraph about how the shapes you are controlling are feeling, and how they interact, which really does make them seem like actual characters, which considering they're polygons, is a pretty impressive feat. Thomas Was Alone is a heart-warming and incredibly fun puzzle game that will keep a smile on your face no matter what it throws at you. Thomas Was Alone is available on Steam, PlayStation Network, and the PS Vita for $9.99.

Born in London, England, James is a media sponge. He consumes media of all shapes and sizes, from movies, to games, to music. He'll take it all. Apart from spending most of his life surrounded by media (his parents are musicians and his brother is a writer), he has been writing film reviews professionally for almost two years, and spends most of his time watching films, playing video games, and generally being an extremely anti-social person. Luckily, that leaves him a lot of time to write articles, such as the ones you will see on this page. Enjoy!
