10 Obscure Video Game Endings You've Never Seen

8. Nick Gets Beaten To Death - Dead Rising 3

Tomb Raider Underworld
Capcom

Dead Rising 3 has five accessible endings of varying outcomes, and also an unused ending cut during development labelled "Ending X" by fans.

Ending X can only be accessed by entering the game's files, and hilariously results in protagonist Nick Ramos being beaten to death by an angry civilian mob.

The ending implies that the player has been totally self-serving during their playthrough and sacrificed the lives of others to affect their escape.

This leads to Nick being kneed in the crotch by Annie for his misdeeds, before he argues that he's "special" and Annie tells him he's about to visit the "safehouse in the sky."

The armed mob then beats him to a bloody pulp, and that's all she wrote.

Ending X is quite similar in tone to Ending D, which you'll unlock if you attempt to escape on the plane early without the other survivors, who then take the plane and leave Nick to die.

We can assume this ending was intended for players who let basically every survivor die, but it's a shame it wasn't implemented into the game proper.
