10 Obvious Features We Can't Believe All Games DON'T HAVE
7. Customisable Difficulty
One of the standout features of contemporary video games is the increased abundance of customisable difficulty settings.
Rather than simply giving the players Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties to choose from, many modern games present an array of sliders, allowing players to tailor combat and puzzle difficulty separately, and even toggle features like waypoints, hints, enemy health and number, and so on.
While some will certainly defend, say, FromSoftware for refusing to include difficulty settings in their games at all, in 2024 it does rather feel like an accessibility feature in of itself.
Adding customisable difficulty doesn't take anything away from games, but instead opens them up to a much larger swath of players who might otherwise be intimidated by titles infamous for their punishing degree of challenge.
In this day and age, giving us a few generic difficulty options - if that - and calling it a day just doesn't seem good enough.
