10 Once Great Video Game Franchises That Should Disappear
5. Pokémon Please. God. Stop. This is a franchise I don't feel any remorse for in saying it should stop. For us 90's kids, Pokémon was the craze for a few years. Trading cards, TV shows, movies and most importantly, Pokémon Red and Blue on the Game Boy. It started with a mere one hundred and fifty funky, little critters to catch. You would spend hours in the car, under the duvet, plonked on the sofa on a boiling hot day clacking away on your Game Boy, trying to get all the badges and of course the immense task of catching all of the Pokémon. Then of course Pokémon Gold and Silver were released and this provided us with another 100 creatures. But after that, like many fads, it died out. The Game Boy was left gathering dust and we took our interest in other avenues. But that didn't stop Nintendo. Still to do this day the franchise is being milked for all it's worth and the games have spanned out in to ridiculous levels. It had its peak at the turn of the millennium, now I almost feel embarrassed for Nintendo that they continue to produce this title.
