10 One-Hit Kill Video Game Bosses That Made You Rage

7. Ultima Weapon - Final Fantasy VIII

The Weapons are a pretty regular boss enemy to fight in the Final Fantasy series. They're even plot-important in some, like Final Fantasy VII (it'll be interesting to see how they'll function in the remake). A pretty regular aspect of the Weapons are their insanely strong attacks and, in particular, their ability to kill characters in a single hit.

In a game where, no matter how strong you are, you can't have more than 9,999 HP, any attack that does exactly that much damage, or more, is a one-hit kill. And these bastards have plenty. So why specifically Ultima Weapon from Final Fantasy VIII? Two-fold:

First of all, FFVIII is extra hellish with the Weapons because, unlike in the earlier games, enemies in FFVIII scaled alongside the player as the heroes leveled up. So for each level you got, the Weapons also got a level. On top of that, the Weapons' stats rose quicker than yours. So this already makes them a bit of a struggle to deal with.

The second reason is entirely personal: Ultima Weapon in FFVIII was the first Weapon boss I ever fought against and he beat my whole party in four turns. Ouch.
