10 One-Of-A-Kind Horror Video Games
5. Corpse Party
Corpse Party is a long-running franchise with eight games, six manga titles, four anime projects - running at vastly different lengths, live-action movies and even theme park attractions.
At its core, the game gives you what it says on the tin, as it's a sinister and violent experience, but you couldn't tell from the way it looks.
The initial title shows as a group of high school students are transported to Heavenly Host Elementary School. This place is just as creepy as it sounds, as it's filled with the ghosts of people who have been trapped there, and they seek out the characters as fresh meat to brutally murder.
Corpse Party's top-down perspective is the kind of thing you might expect from a Pokemon game, not a shockingly gory horror title. The tiny sprites, cute animations, and general style lure you in before attacking you with blood and guts.
It's a very worthwhile experience, and there is plenty of material to choose from. But, if you want the purest one, you should look to the original game.
