10 Otherworldly Video Game Enemies That Were Once Human

7. Revenant - Doom (2016)

In a slight departure from the backstory established by the original games, Doom 2016's Revenants are former humans of the UAC - specifically, the creepy cultist side - who knowingly volunteered for extreme cybernetic alteration that more or less cost them their lives.

The result of exposing these volunteers to the Hell-derived Argent Energy is unnaturally quick and extensive bone growth, robbing them of most of their flesh and muscle and rendering them around three metres tall. Combined with shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, a jetpack and various other metal implants, the elements of both demon and machine in these efficient killers practically push the human qualities right off to the side.

In the multiplayer, the Revenant is a playable character, and the player can make full use of the creature's militaristic augmentations. To take away even more from their humanity, Revenants are able to be piloted remotely via a cocoon-like control station, which the Doom Slayer gets some nice use out of in Doom: Eternal.
