10 Otherworldly Video Game Enemies That Were Once Human

In video games, there's rarely an upside to being in a cult. Unless, of course, you fancy being turned into living stone and wandering a purgatorial nightmare realm for all eternity, in which case the Cult of the Outsider is the one for you!

Billie Lurk encounters these interdimensional entities on her mission to kill the godlike figurehead of the Void, the Outsider. At Shindaerey Peak, the point where the Void and the mortal realm meet, the cultists' exposure to the strange artefact, the Eye of The Dead God, gradually replaces their skin with jagged stone, and as their humanity slips away, they become The Envisioned, the immortal sentinels of the Ritual Hold.

In-game, they are only visible after Billie interacts with the Eye herself, and it's immediately obvious how far they have strayed from beings of flesh and blood. Incredibly perceptive and near impossible to kill, they exist solely to extinguish all trespassers within the Void - which they do, in one devastating hit.

It really says something when the guardians of the Outsider appear less human than the actual guy who runs the place.
