9 Outlandish Predictions for the Future of Gaming

5. Roger Ebert is Forced To Admit That Games Can Be Art

I'm not the only one who was p***ed off when film critic Roger Ebert said "games can never be art". It's not even the sentiment that annoyed me, it was the smugness of the statement. He might as well have said "I am Roger Ebert and I am superior to anyone who plays video games". With that said, outside of the COD franchise (and some other notable offendors to which I won't Battlefield name), there's been so much innovation in gaming - not just in the technology but in the way stories are being told - over even the last five years that some day, and soon I'll wager, Ebert will be forced to eat his words. And what a grand day that will be. Not simply because we can all rub our victory in his face, but because whichever game gets deemed a work of art will probably be the greatest game of all time, and we'll all get to play it!
