4. The End Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The End appears in Metal Gear Solid 3 as a member of the vastly talented and insanely weird COBRA Unit. Hes an extremely old sniper who owns a parrot. I know its an odd set-up, but this is a Kojima game if he hasnt got at least one eccentric trait, he has no business here. Yet its not what he is that makes him such a hard boss. Its how you fight him. When you gear up to fight a boss battle there are certain things you expect. First of all, you assume the boss will actually be on the same map as you. Secondly, you expect theyll be easy to find after all, its a boss, theyre supposed to come to you. But with The End, this isnt the case. A master of sniping and camouflage, The End just waits for you in different areas of the Sokrovenno forest while you ramble around looking like a lost boy scout. And then it happens. You hear a gunshot, and Snake is down. Repeat this process about a hundred times and you may have just begun to scratch the levels of frustration associated with fighting this old man of the forest. Hes very difficult to find, and this frustration can boil over if a boss's actions make you kill his parrot entirely out of spite, then its safe to say the developers done his job right. You win again, Kojima.
