3. Jubileus Bayonetta
Dont even try to comprehend the plot of Bayonetta. Better men than you have tried and failed. Id try to explain it here, but I want to keep my sanity, so Ill keep it short. Your father-husband(?) is attempting to resurrect God who in this case is a gigantic statue of a woman by capturing your daughter-self(?). I told you it was odd. Needless to say, he succeeds. You cant possibly tease that God is a giant statue and not be able to fight it, thats just not fair. Especially when the rest of the game has lived up to a well-deserved reputation of pitch-perfect insanity, blending lightning-quick attacks with a deep combination system and dominatrix-flavoured special moves. Pitting a deity against a witch in a hair-suit just seems a natural fit in this world. However, this fight is incredibly difficult and Jubileus more than lives up to her billing as a god. Fighting Bayonetta inside a giant red disco-ball orbiting the Earth, the camera is necessarily disorientating and becomes even more so when she decides to change the arena to fire, ice or lightning. Shes incredibly powerful and will happily beat you to death with her fists and skull-cannons if you ever stop moving. Youll run a lot, and frankly, youll die a lot. Jubileus has an almost embarrassing amount of health bars and becomes increasingly dangerous as she nears her doom. But at the end of it all, you do get to punch God into the sun. If thats not enough motivation to see this struggle through, I dont know what is.
