10 Overlooked Video Games By Great Publishers
5. Dreams - Sony
Media Molecule's Dreams was published by Sony in 2020, and though the game creation hub received universal acclaim for the depth of its creation suite, it sadly never broke out to become a wider mainstream hit.
Dreams was ultimately lost in the shuffle among Sony's war chest of AAA blockbuster titles, no matter that it offered up a totally unique gaming experience and jaw-dropping array of tools for players to make their own art - with VR support, no less.
Shortly after its full release, the hype surrounding the game died down considerably as more casual users moved onto other games and only the hardcore community remained.
Despite the relative accessibility of its creation tools, Dreams is all-but-forgotten in mainstream gaming discourse less than three years after its release, which given the ingenuity of its systems is a damn shame.
There are reasonable arguments to be made that Sony should've released Dreams as a free-to-play title and also put it on other platforms, but given the PS4's massive install base at the time of its bow, it's rather depressing that it didn't move the needle more.
