10 Overlooked Video Games By Great Publishers
4. Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron - Activision
It's absolutely reasonable to be skeptical about any Transformers game given the many shoddy titles based on the beloved IP, but 2012's Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - a sequel to the surprisingly good Transformers: War for Cybertron - was such a breath of fresh air.
Activision, best known for publishing the Call of Duty franchise, released the game to a bafflingly muted wave of fanfare considering how much fun it was to play.
Beyond the thrilling gameplay, it also touted a surprisingly engaging story and benefited massively from voice actors Peter Cullen and Gregg Berger reprising their voice roles from the animated series as Optimus Prime and Grimlock respectively.
It didn't help at all that Activision's rushed-to-market follow-up, the spin-off title Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, was panned by most critics, in turn poisoning the well and bringing the series to an end.
And with Activision delisting the game from digital storefronts in 2017 due to their licensing agreement with Hasbro expiring, it's actually tough to find a well-priced, legal version of Fall of Cybertron these days.
But considering the clear love and effort that developer High Moon Studios put into it, it deserves far better than to basically become lost to time.
