10 Overlooked Video Games That Were WAY Ahead Of Their Time

6. Katamari Damacy

Katamari Damacy is one of the best physics-based games ever made, full stop.

The premise is simple: you are tasked with restoring all the stars to the sky. You accomplish this via a ball that picks up any object smaller than it.

The bigger the ball gets, the more stuff you can pick up, until you are quite literally rolling up the world. While its heavily Japanese aesthetic was met with mockery from the mainstream, Katamari Damacy has since won over a strong cult following thanks to one of the most addictive gameplay loops ever. It is just so damn fun to roll up progressively bigger and bigger objects until you're picking up entire buildings, followed by islands, followed by continents.

Just try not to think about the puny mortals that were in those buildings, islands, and continents. If they didn't wanna be rolled into a giant ball, they shouldn't have made their deaths so hilarious, it's as simple as that.

If you want one of the most fun physics-based games you'll ever play, hunt down its recent remastering, Katamari Damacy Re-Roll on Steam, and enjoy the carnage.
