9. Sonic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABku2E_fXQM True to his legacy, Sonic the Hedgehog is quite the spry combatant in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. His horizontal moves can completely control the floor of a map and high dodge ability keeps him safely out of reach. What's more, that rapid movement means he's tough to escape; he can edge-guard with the best of them, preventing skyward opponents from returning to the game without suffering a re-upped beating. As it stands, Sonic is far from a Tier-A character, but that could change with a custom move set. Sonic highlights a different risk than Pit: It's not about exploiting, it's about fixing. The Blue Blur's speed comes at a heavy price, but clever attack combinations could do away with much of that downside. Most notably, his ability to rack up minor damage quickly would become far more relevant when paired with a potent killing move, which he currently lacks compared to other characters. Then again, he may also then be able to put a stop to Dr. Egghead. Trade-offs.

A freelance games writer, you say? Typically battling his current RPG addiction and ceaseless perfectionism? A fan of horror but too big a sissy to play for more than a couple of hours? Spends far too much time on JRPGs and gets way too angry with card games?
Well that doesn't sound anything like me.
