10 Overpowered Video Game Weapons You Can Only Use ONCE

2. Runepowder Barrel - Baldur's Gate 3

Barrelmancy, the act of stacking copious amounts of smokepowder barrels and then lighting them on fire, is a trend that’s been alive and well in Baldur’s Gate 3’s community ever since the game’s alpha days. There’s just something innately satisfying about defeating hordes of goblins or avatars of actual gods with an industrial quantity of explosives.

However, if hauling around dozens of barrels doesn’t sound like the plan for you, there’s actually an item that possesses the destructive power of two dozen smokepowder barrels at a quarter of their weight. The only catch is that you can only use it once.

In Act 3 of the game, if you help the Ironhand gnomes escape from Moonrise Towers, their leader, Wulbren, will ask you to blow up the foundry of his clan’s rivals using his special creation, the Runepowder Bomb.

This hulking heap of magically-infused gunpowder is capable of dealing over a hundred damage to everything within an eighteen-meter radius, making any encounter, even in the late stage of the game, laughably easy and beautifully explosive.

Yes, you’re technically supposed to use it for a quest, but who could resist that single glorious moment of instantly obliterating a battlefield?
