There are a huge array of options for players in Mass Effect 2 when it comes to weaponry. Different guns have different characteristics, and the greater emphasis on making the game more of a third-person shooter can make some of these characteristics quite impactful.

By far the number one assault rifle in Mass Effect 2 is the Geth Pulse Rifle. Only obtainable by completing Tali’s recruitment mission on Haestrom on either hardcore or insanity difficulty. But, boy oh boy, is this assault rifle worth getting a hold of.

Firing a rapid stream of energy bolts, the assault rifle comes with a helpfully low recoil, a spare ammo capacity of up to 528, and is the absolute go-to when it comes to taking down shields. With a base damage of 10.8, the rifle gets a x1.15 multiplier on armour, and a hefty x1.35 against shields and barriers.

The Geth Pulse Rifle made an appearance in Mass Effect 3, but it seemed like Bioware came to their senses when developing it again because they noticeably gave the weapon a pretty hefty nerf.
