10 Perfect Video Game Stories (That Were Ruined By The Sequels)
8. The End Of The Journey (And Apparently Beyond) - The Walking Dead: Season 3
The Walking Dead series from Telltale has experienced plenty of hardships during its life span. Constant delays, the studio's bankruptcy, and changes in direction have all taken a toll on both the games' reception and narrative.
Which is why it feels even more appropriate that the series should've ended in Season 2.
There's a reason why most fans of the series either hate or barely remember Season 3, and that's because it ruins the storyline of the previous two games in a painfully blatant way.
Season 2 ends on a perfect note with Clementine and AJ following Kenny or Jane to a safe haven where the two can grow up in peace. Season 3 decides to completely undermine this setup, only so that Clementine can play the role of a side character to its new protagonist, Javier.
Clementine doesn't even get to spend two years inside the selected settlement, and its downfall happens off-screen, so it doesn't really serve any purpose in the narrative other than to separate Clementine from AJ for the purposes of the sequel.
It's clear the developers did this only to bring Clementine back into their franchise earlier than they should, and as a result, the story suffers severely for it.
