10 Perfectly Crafted Video Games That Never Need Sequels

4. Heavy Rain

As another heavy contender in the concept of what truly makes something a video game, Heavy Rain was incredibly divisive among critics and fans. Whether you were in love with its characters and story or just considered it a crummy interactive movie, it's hard to deny that Heavy Rain has been one of the biggest examples moving forward of games becoming more than just run and shoot affairs. It tackled serious subject matter, coming off like a Hollywood blockbuster movie that you had control over. It also played with the concept of player immortality, as a main character death meant the game simply continued on without them and its narrative has been hotly debated in the years since its 2010 release. But no matter how you slice it, Heavy Rain 2 is simply a bad idea, as it would ultimately accomplish nothing for any of these characters. Depending on the ending you got, all of these characters had a very contained story to be told over a single game and revisiting this world is only a disservice to them. Thankfully, Quantic Dreams founder David Cage has sworn off a sequel, which means you can leave all your memories of Norman Jayden in peace.
