10 Platinum Gaming Trophies That Were Literal Torture
2. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
The follow-up to the rather underrated Wolfenstein: The New Order received a mixed reception on release, but it managed to maintain the bloody, freewheeling carnage the series is known for in its gameplay.
B.J Blazkowicz and his allies' desperate attempts to liberate the United States from Frau Engel played out in a manic story, and as you went through, the difficulty was no slouch. For a good portion of the first act, you played as a severely weakened and broken down protagonist, which generated a serious difficulty spike in the early stages. Enemies could easily put you down with just a few seconds of gunfire.
Those wishing to achieve platinum for Wolfenstein II: The New Collosus have a controller-smashing challenge ahead of them. The base story trophies were fairly straightforward; simply play through and beat the game on any difficulty.
However, the level of challenge ranked up aggressively the higher you cranked the slider up. "I am death incarnate" was tough enough with B.J feeling about as tough as wet paper, but then came "Mein Leben" mode.
Taking some inspiration from its FPS brother, Doom, this insufferable challenge forces you to beat the entire game on max difficulty, booting you back to the start if you die just once. All of this for a measly bronze trophy, and you're still just getting started.
