10 Pointless Super Mario Power Up Clones
5. Blimp Yoshi + Bee Mushroom
Super Mario Galaxy introduced a diverse item called the Bee Mushroom. After obtaining it, you will don a bee suit, allowing Mario to hover, cling to honeycomb walls, and stand on clouds and flowers. It's also impossible to get stuck in honey while in Mario's in his buzzy form.
When Super Mario Galaxy 2 was announced, fans were excited to learn that the game would introduce three Power Ups for Mario's loveable, egg-spewing companion, Yoshi.
Although two of these items are pretty cool, the Blimp Fruit, which turns your sidekick into Blimp Yoshi was a let-down. In this form, Yoshi can float upward for a few seconds, just like Bee Mario. This upgrade is used in areas where Yoshi must cross vast chasms or when he needs to reach a higher platform.
Since Blimp Yoshi can't stick to honey or walk on clouds, the two items don't seem too similar. But if there was a Bee Mushroom in every section where the Blimp Fruit is used, Mario could carry out the exact same tasks.
Since the Bee Mushroom is already in Super Mario Galaxy 2, it feels like the developers inserted the Blimp Fruit just to give Yoshi something to do.
