Overview: Bomberman is a game franchise in which you (usually) play as a cute little fella in a white outfit.

Bomberman: Act Zero though, was a drastic departure from every other Bomberman in existence. It featured a more realistic art style and a darker, dystopian setting.

Keep in mind that Bomberman usually sports a cutesy, kid-friendly art style, and that helped make it popular in the first place.

Why It Was Pointless: Bomberman: Act Zero is one of the worst games ever made. The game was absolutely panned upon launch due to its long loading screens, generic level design, repetitive gameplay, dark setting, and overall lack of fun.

Despite the game's negative reception, it didn't damage the franchise at all. Bomberman games went back to normal the very next year with Bomberman Land, and the series is still going strong today. Bomberman himself even made it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an Assist Trophy!

The one and only positive thing to be said about Bomberman: Act Zero is that it did not kill Bomberman.
