10 Pointless Video Game Reboots NOBODY Asked For
3. Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Overview: In the original Mirror's Edge, players are tasked with guiding Faith Connors through the game by climbing onto, sliding under, and jumping off of anything in her way.
In 2016, EA Dice released a game titled Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. It's both a reboot and a prequel, focusing on Faith's origins, but the events that take place in the game contradict the events of the first. It's basically a Tomb Raider 2013 situation.
Why It Was Pointless: Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a flawed game. It has a rushed story, clunky combat, and a lifeless world. It's not a bad game, but at the time, it wasn't exceptional enough to stand out.
Poor scheduling may have also been a factor. Catalyst was released only two weeks after Overwatch, which was a massive game at the time of release, and still remains a highly-played game today. When Catalyst came out, it was the second best-selling game in the UK, behind Overwatch itself.
