10 Pointless Video Game Reboots NOBODY Asked For
2. Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
Overview: Before EA acquired the rights to make Star Wars games, we had LucasArts and Pandemic Studios. The latter is responsible for creating the first/third-shooter franchise known as Star Wars: Battlefront.
The first two games were widely successful, and while a third game was never officially announced, it was definitely in development. The leaked build is proof of that.
At E3 2013, an EA Dice-developed Battlefront game, simply known as Star Wars Battlefront, was unveiled. It wasn't Star Wars Battlefront III, but it was close enough.
Why It Was Pointless: No it wasn't. The game was closer to EA Dice's Battlefield than it was to the original Battlefront series. The reboot's gameplay was fine, but nothing intuitive for its time. The game launched with only half the content of the game that inspired it. It failed to keep players' interest for long, despite being a financial success.
The most interesting part about the Battlefront reboot is that it spawned an even worse sequel. Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) is an infamous game. It struggled with microtransactions for months after its launch.
To this day, it remains a disappointment of a game, and it never would have existed without Battlefront 2015.
