5. Pidgeot

Pidgeot became a favourite for being one of the first fully evolved Pokémon that most trainers owned. Pidgeys were widely available on the first routes in Gens 1 and 2, so it was easy to become attached, and evolve them into Pidgeots. Not only that, most of us couldn’t bare the thought of releasing our Pidgeots the way Ash did. He promised to go back for it, but over a decade later, the poor thing is still waiting solemnly on a branch for its owner.

Like a lot of the Pokémon on this list, Pidgeot was given a Mega Stone to make it competitively viable, but without the Stone, it’s nothing more than a waste of space. It has a decent Speed stat, but it isn’t the best. Terrible Attack and Defence stats mean that even if Pidgeot can out-speed the competition, it won’t hit hard or take a lot of punishment.

A Stoneless Pidgeot can be used as a Defogger, but there are better options, such as Swanna. As a Normal/Flying type, Pidgeot isn’t even the strongest in Gen 1. Dodrio and Fearow are stronger, and Dodrio has more Speed and access to Knock-Off, making it the better choice.
