10 Potential Superhero Video Games (And Who Should Make Them)
8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rocksteady
Those who kept up with the Arkham hype-train back in 2011 should actually remember this rumour. Just after the VGAs (when people seriously thought Rocksteady were going to take the Arkham name to cringe-inducing heights with 'Arkham World'), a report did the rounds saying that the British devs were in fact working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title, and not - as most had thought - a sequel to Arkham City. We all know how that turned out (groan), but the fact still remains that Rocksteady would be a brilliant pick to orchestrate the next gaming adventure for the Heroes in a Half-shell.
We obviously have to consider the studio's trademark freeflow combat system - a model of combat that developers to this day are still struggling to imitate - and how it's pretty much the perfect thing for the brothers four. There was a slight controversy regarding rehashed animations and all that for some of Arkham Knight's various non-Batman characters, but they did (at their core) all offer their own very distinct experiences.
If Rocksteady were - in some ideal magical alternate dimension - to tackle the Turtles, we know that it'd be an altogether more different type of Turtles title than what we've been used to. Indeed, a game based on the original Mirage series or, better yet, the new IDW one, would be absolutely perfect for a gaming adaptation, one that blended all aspects of the Turtles in an Arkham-esque way to deliver the ultimate TMNT experience.
Pick a cel-shaded style that borrows heavily from the original Eastman and Laird look, and you could have one of the most surprising triple-A titles this generation.
