6. Booking The Day Off To Play A New Game, Server Problems All Day
So, the new CoD game is coming out, and because you're a huge fan of the series, of course you book the day off work, a practice that's actually becoming more accepted these days. Still, even if your boss grants you the day off (and you'll probably have to be quick, because others will have the same idea), you're not home and dry yet. Firstly, you've got to make sure the game has been delivered to your home (unless you've bought it in store), and even then, plenty could still go wrong on the developer's end. The game flies through your letterbox and you rabidly tear the package open, shove the disc in your console of choice and get ready. You try to connect to the matchmaking server and...it's down. Either by way of overwhelming traffic or some unspecified technical error on their end, you can't play the game you just booked one of your few holiday days off per year for. Well, you could play the single player CoD campaign, but...no, you're not that desperate. Many had just these issues when Grand Theft Auto Online launched on October 1st of last year: server issues lasted for an entire week, so those who had booked a day or even multiple days off to experience one of the most ambitious multiplayer suites ever assembled were tremendously disappointed. One can only imagine how they felt when they finally got to play GTA Online and saw how piecemeal it was.
