10 Rarest PS1 Games Ever

6. Valkyrie Profile

New: $300 | Used: $80 Another one of many forgotten Square Enix RPGs, Valkyrie Profile was extremely well received by critics, and sold over 700,000 units in total, the vast majority of which were in Japan. Valkyrie is an interesting fusion of Japanese art style with Norse mythology, and sees you traversing with your party of heroes across nine distinct realms as you recruit the souls of fallen warriors in your bid to prevent the legendary kingdom of Asgard from being destroyed. If you're turned off by traditional turn-based combat, then you'll be happy to hear that Valkyrie does things a little bit differently, as you can string together spectacular combos by having the characters in your party attack simultaneously. The visuals are gorgeous too. You'll find plenty of people who rank Valkyrie Profile among the greatest JRPGs, or even greatest games, of all time. The English-language version of the game never received a huge print run, so its lasting reputation and the reignited interest in it since the PSP version came out have propelled it to 'Collector' status.
