10 Reasons Call Of Duty Must Be Boots On The Ground After Infinite Warfare
9. Content Diversity
As a fan of Call of Duty, I have to make one admission about the franchise: It gets stuck on a theme and never does anything aesthetically or thematically different until the current flavour has been run into the ground. Don't get me wrong, as I'm not a part of the "CoD is always the same game" naysayers.
However, think about this...
CoD 1-3 and 5 (World at War) were based around World War II. CoD 4, MW2, MW3, and Ghosts are hypothetical modern war scenarios.
Now, we have three games in a row (Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3, and Infinite Warfare) that are based on Sci-fi/ futuristic warfare. Black Ops 2 bridges the gap between modern and futurism, and Black Ops 1 is the only black sheep of the series to do something different thematically.
So, with the recent sci-fi kick that the franchise has been on, maybe going boots on the ground could really help change things up. Since we have the much vaunted three year development cycle going, maybe they could switch things up every year?
One year you get a more realistic game, the next you get a 3D movement game, and then the third year could be a surprise. Something to that end would prevent the sort of fatigue that we commonly see among fans of the series.
