10 Reasons Fans Need To Stop Complaining About Breath Of The Wild DLC
8. Launch DLC Is Negligible
Day one DLC: The single most surefire way a game can take any and all goodwill it has curried, stick it in a little pot, set it to boil, and then watch the whole building burn down with glee.
Thankfully Nintendo have a couple of points in their favour still. There are no characters, missions or dungeons on offer come March 3rd, just a series of cosmetic items and tidbits plopped inside chests for players to pick-up when they please. Besides a Switch branded shirt for Link, nothing else has been confirmed, but don’t be surprised to see a wallet or bomb bag boost available.
Nothing game breaking, but enough of an edge to possibly tempt players.
The launch DLC is also the only content with a guaranteed release date. The two other packs are geared for a Summer and Holiday launch respectively. That might not seem significant, but with the two DLC packs having such a wide window for landing indicates Nintendo’s plans are largely post-launch and subject to change.
In the pendulum game of downloadable content, this is one of those rare positive signs we can take that developers have something meaningful in mind for their shiny new content other than a sleek new lining for their Dorito-stained sweat pants.
