10 Reasons Infinite Warfare Just Killed Call Of Duty

5. Microtransactions Are Coming

Microtransactions are a sad reality of contemporary gaming, but they ring an especially sour note when it comes to the CoD franchise.

After all, have Activision not made enough money from the game's core sales combined with the ever-popular season pass DLC? They slowly began to introduce the idea in the last few games and finally doubled down with it in IW, where players obtain keys which can then be used to unlock Supply Drops, potentially containing epic and rare equipment.

Though you can't actually buy keys yet, Activision will no doubt be introducing them shortly now that reviewers have all finished with the game, giving those with fatter wallets the opportunity to potentially get the good stuff faster (even if stat gains are marginal at best).

There will always be those fans who are willing to be exploited by Activision for a new shiny gun, but given that Titanfall 2 has free DLC "forever" for example, it only emphasies how IW feels like a rather soulless cash-grab rather than a robust work of video game engineering.

Will fans finally get fed up of a company so desperately reaching for their money?
