10 Reasons Mafia 3 Will Be Better Than GTA 6
8. Driving Controls That Won't P*ss You Off
Another thing from IGN's podcast was the reveal that driving in Mafia 3 is actually going to be a fairly arcady affair. Whilst the word itself sounds like getting around the city might be pretty twitchy, you need only think back to Sleeping Dogs to get a feel for how a physics-be-damned approach can work wonders.
Apparently, by doing away with wondering about real-world physics and weighty car models, it allows chases to be more visceral and immediately controllable. In GTA you're always in danger of spinning off the road, hitting oncoming traffic or flipping your car at a moment's notice, all in pursuit of some quasi sense of realism that's at the heart of how it all handles.
If we're talking about design decisions made in service of playability, give me more arcady, bolted-to-the-road controls any day.
