10 Reasons Nintendo Switch Online Is A Crushing Disappointment

1. ...But It's Probably Too Cheap For Its Own Good

This may be an unpopular opinion, but the biggest fundamental issue with the Switch's online service is that it's probably not expensive enough. It's launching for roughly half the cost of its rival online subscriptions, which sounds great until you realise it's also going to place a ceiling on the amount of content Nintendo is willing to offer up.

If the service was, say, £29.99, it'd still be cheaper than PSN or XBL, but maybe we'd get a Switch indie game every month, or at least some more recent titles added to the classic library.

Instead, the current offering is so shockingly piecemeal and the online infrastructure so comically thin that it becomes abundantly clear you're just paying your subscription in order to smash down an arbitrary, unnecessary paywall.
