10 Reasons Silent Hill Is Better Than Resident Evil

8. The Controls

Few survival horror games cover themselves in glory when it comes to control. One of the issues with utilising fixed camera angles and claustrophobic environments is that it can be pretty tricky to navigate clumsy characters around them, especially in moments of panic such as, say, when you're being attacked by vicious monsters. Still, you have to give the edge to Silent Hill again; its tighter controls were helped by more open environments, and offered less moments of screen-breaking frustration than Resi, which sometimes seemed to take pride in being stunningly awkward.
