10 Reasons Sony Won E3 2014
2. Project Morpheus
Sony introduced its highly-praised virtual reality headset - which uses the PlayStation 4 camera for tracking - with a smug stab at Microsoft's Kinect debacle. Sony said very little on Project Morpheus itself, but promised new demo levels for its floor demonstrations. Regardless, it's exciting to hear Sony talk more openly about its VR project and the fact that E3 attendees will be able to try it out for themselves suggests that they are taking the technology very seriously.
Compare that level of innovation and commitment to the scant offerings of Microsoft's conference and it's not hard to see why Sony's presentation was so well received. With each new mention of Project Morpheus, Sony are made to look like innovators, while conversely Microsoft are left looking rather foolish when all they have to show is a currently directionless peripheral.
