Considering the immense popularity of various film, television and music streaming services, it was only a matter of time until companies like Sony jumped on board and embraced this intriguing rental model. Granted, we already knew about PlayStation Now, but this section of the conference confirmed Sony's intentions to finally launch the service as an open beta throughout the United States and Canada.
The alluring aspect of the service is how well it promises to tie into the existing Sony ecosystem, as well as any subsequent additions they make to it. It's a service that could potentially have an enormous impact on the industry and Sony's competitors would be wise to invest in these areas rather than relinquish any stake in them through outright dismissal of their potential benefits.
