10 Reasons Sony Won E3 2014

7. The Order: 1886

When we first heard about The Order: 1886 back in 2013 there wasn't much to get excited about. Sure, if steampunk visuals were your thing then The Order might have ticked all the necessary boxes, but there wasn't much on offer from Ready at Dawn's new IP to excite anyone else. Sony slipped some in-engine footage of The Order into their press conference though, and it looked utterly amazing. The game ran superbly, seamlessly interposing cinematic cutscenes between sections of gameplay as the trailer showed off some truly jaw-dropping graphics. But it wasn't just the visual fidelity that made this brief glimpse so enticing, there was something twisted and despairing in the tone of this game that was altogether more arresting. Whether it was the hulking, lycanthropic beast that stalked the player or the eerie pacing of the gameplay, The Order: 1886 looked like it might add a dash of horror to its third-person proceedings €“ and that's always a good thing.
