10 Reasons The PS4.5 Is Sony's Biggest Mistake This Generation

However, by far the most worrisome implication of the PS4.5 is how it's going to effect the eventual reveal of Sony's next true gaming console.

If the PS5 is announced too soon, say another three years from the release of the 4.5, then that will be three consoles (four, if you count the PSVR - which Sony is) in the space of six years.

Part of the reason why Sony enjoyed such success with the PS4 in 2013 was because people were starved for new hardware, and thus lapped up these new consoles more ferociously than ever before. It's kind of the same course that Rockstar takes with GTA titles: by the time a new entry in the series comes out it's been so long between instalments that fans simply can't wait to get their hands on the new game.

However, if Sony releases all of these consoles within such a short time span, and players have had to spend so much cash to keep up to date with modern gaming experiences, then there might be a bit of trepidation when it comes to a Playstation 5.
