10 Reasons The PS4.5 Is Sony's Biggest Mistake This Generation
10. It Will Split The Player-Base
Although the leaked documents indicate that both the PS4 and the 4.5 are going to share the same online services and PSN store, there's still a chance that the upgraded console will split the community right down the middle.
While players across the two consoles will be able to join each others' games and parties, there's still a chance that this cross-pollination could only make things worse. Although there's allegedly a clause that says the framerate of games hitting the 4.5 have to match or exceed that of its underpowered counterpart, you have to assume that the increase in resources will mean that more often than not we're going to be looking at higher frames per second for 4.5 games.
Unfortunately, if this happens in an online shooter or driving game, then those playing on the more stable version are going to have an inherent advantage over those stuck with the inferior build. So even though the games can technically be played across both platforms, issues like framerate disparity will only make you wish the two were separate.
