Although a percentage of video game fans will be keeping up to date with the rumours of a new Playstation console and rightfully holding off picking up Sony's original machine until there's an official announcement from the company, the general consumer is still lapping up PS4s as fast as Sony can put them on shelves.

So imagine all the parents or your average gamers picking up a console right now who are about to find out they could have gotten an even better machine for a similar price if they'd waited a few months. Rightfully, they aren't going to be happy, and it's inevitable that their frustration is going to be directed right at Sony.

Considering all of the goodwill that the company has recovered since the disastrous PS3 days, it seems like a huge mistake to once again burn those bridges with consumers, just for the sake of a new console that only has slightly more horsepower.
