10 Reasons The PS4.5 Is Sony's Biggest Mistake This Generation
4. There Are "No Special Features"... Except For All The Special Features
One of the most interesting little tidbits hidden in the leaked documents about the PS4.5 is the requirement that no games running on the machine can have features that aren't present on the original PS4 version.
In theory, this seems like a pretty smart way to keep the experiences the same across both consoles, and it makes sure that PS4 owners don't feel as though they're being sold an inferior version of a game that's lacking in core features.
However, it seems as though Sony is completely overlooking a major issue in regards to this "no exclusive bonuses" argument: the mere fact that these games running smoother and looking better on Sony's new console are the special features.
Regardless of whether the company thinks these upgrades are exclusive features or not, there's no way that a PR line arguing that the two consoles have no major differences that impact the core gaming experience will fly with gamers who live for solid frame rates and high resolutions.
