10 Reasons The PS4.5 Is Sony's Biggest Mistake This Generation

3. The PS4 Will Become Obsolete

When all is said and done though, if these rumour prove to be true then the original PS4 is simply going to become obsolete in the face of the the more powerful 4.5. While it's always expected that your machine is eventually going to be overshadowed by something else, no one who picked up the console over the past three years expected it to happen so soon.

And you have to remember, there's almost 40 million people out there with a Playstation 4 at this point. So with the introduction of the 4.5 Sony is essentially telling the massive install base who embraced their system and gave them a lead in the console race that their machine is no longer relevant, and that they have to buy this new piece of hardware if they want to keep up to date on the latest and greatest that the Playstation brand has to offer.

Although the two systems are going to live side-by-side, there's no way that Sony isn't going to push this new machine as much as possible, which inherently means that as the years go by, the original PS4 that made this generation what it is is only going to be pushed further and further out of the spotlight.
