As has been a source of significant controversy in recent months, Titanfall does not feature a single player campaign, and the game can only be played online. However, it does feature a multiplayer campaign, though frankly it's difficult to see why they bothered: you must play through 18 missions (9 for each of the IMC and Militia), which is basically Attrition and Hardpoint matches with a very loose story wrapped around. It's forgettable narratively, and we're never asked to care about winning: it's simply an end-game to unlocking an extra Titan for completing each half of the campaign. Yes, it's piecemeal and it's difficult to see why they even bothered at all, but on the flipside, we should also be grateful that Respawn were smart enough not to waste many resources on developing this mode. Whereas COD opts for a cinematic and detailed (if cliched) story that lasts 4 or 5 hours yet must take up considerable developer effort, Respawn have basically come up with a bare bones campaign that most players will quickly rush through, comfortably aware that they will still be earning XP for doing so. Though easily the weakest aspect of the game, it's also pleasing to see that the core multiplayer experience itself has clearly received the bulk of their attention.
