Speaking of game-changing updates, the recent Ships Of Fortune update has offered yet more ways for pirates to achieve their fortune with the whole new Emissary System.

Allowing crews to fly the flag for their preferred company, be that Gold Hoarders, Order Of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Athena’s Fortune, or the brand new PvP-focused Reaper’s Bones, joining an emissary offers a new means of progression to make the grind to become a pirate legend more bearable.

Collecting loot for your chosen faction will help raise your emissary level up to a maximum of five tiers, and subsequently grants you and your crew a multiplier bonus to both reputation and gold. Climb to the highest level and you'll unlock a special gilded quest for higher loot or, if you're sailing with the Reapers, you'll be able to see the location of all other emissary ships on your map.

Of course, it isn’t all smooth sailing. If your ship’s sunk, you’ll lose your flag and your multiplier. The good news, though, is that if you sink an emissary ship, you can trade in their flag to the Reaper’s Bones for a reward of your own.
